Shipments done by Travellers

The HU Shipping Database!

From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.

For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.

If you are aware of any more up-to-date information, or you know of any shipping details for locations which aren't listed below:

Please let us know here for minor details, or
Submit information on a shipment YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE here.

Thanks to all who have contributed this information, keep it coming!

NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.

Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

Woman, travelled on my own 8 months New Zealand, Australia and Tasmania.

Shipped my motorbike (BMW F650) to NZ/Auckland, flew it from Auckland to OZ/Sydney and shipped it back from Sydney to BE/Antwerp.

Technical info :

used a crate from BMW dealer (RMS-Halle)

crate+motorbike: 280 kg, 2,636 m3

cost per m3 : 90 USD

cost : 2,636 x 90 USD x 0,961 (USD->Euro) = 227,99 euro
+ cost doc,customs,... 75 euro = 302,99 euro

I took insurance 87,50 euro (expensive!), necessary ??

So total cost : 302,99 + 87,50 = 390 euro

Don't forget that you have to pay costs to the freighter who unloads the container. In my case this was the company Oceanbride in Auckland, I payed
280,75 + 73,13 NZ$ = 353 NZ$ (+- 180 euro)

302.99 Euro 87.50 Euro insurance

Phil Love

Price included crating, expertly done by All Freight Packers near Heathrow.

Normal sailing frequency is weekly and is of 3 week duration, but I had an extra week added by storms.

This price is for bike of 2.39 mtrs.cubed. For a crated bike I would have paid approx 500 USD.

Add 300 USD for BA costs, and follow the well documented procedures on the site to get your bike.

Shipping a NZ-registered bike from US to Singapore. I entered USA through the border from Mexico. I received a stamp in my passport, but no paperwork related to my bike was requested. Therefore I was able to ship the bike as personal effects from USA to Singapore. No problems with customs on the US side.

Note: DHX only accepted the crate as personal affairs. They do not know what paper work would be required if it would be declared as export of a US registered motorcycle.

N/A. As an Ambassador for UNICEF, DHX fully sponsored our Campaign and took over all costs on the US side. PLM, the BMW dealer in Singapore, organised and fully sponsored the release of the crate in Singapore.

Mr. Lee Wei Koon (general manager)

Mr. Lee made an all in price for us to ship the bikes. It was 500 RM /m3 (132 US$/m3). The price included crate and crating, all the custom clearance, transport and port fees. (the cubicmeter price is about 65 US$).

The bikes needed to be fumigated and that costs 150 RM (40 US$).

So if you can keep the volume small it is a good deal. We managed to put our two Suzuki DR600's in ONE crate of 2.94 m3.

The shipping takes about 20 days and add 3 days to deliver the bikes before ship departure.

In Auckland, New Zealand, we had to pay 285 NZ$ (115 US$) for port handling charges. For quarantine services (MAF=Ministery of Agriculture and Forestry)we paid 165 NZ$ (66 US$). We did the custom clearing ourselves.

US$609 for 2 motorbikes
