Shipments done by Travellers

The HU Shipping Database!

From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.

For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.

If you are aware of any more up-to-date information, or you know of any shipping details for locations which aren't listed below:

Please let us know here for minor details, or
Submit information on a shipment YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE here.

Thanks to all who have contributed this information, keep it coming!

NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.

Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

Maria Moro

Just for information purposes. I have just arranged for my bike to go by sea to Tilbury, UK and had a good experience......so far!
I used Crossocean Freight, namely Maria Moro tel: 02 9666 9220 (main switch).

Process as follows:

Take carnet to Customs Cargo Export Dept - ULM House, Link Road, Mascot - just near the airport terminal. Book Export Exam at the export warehouse that Crossocean specify. Meet Customs Officer there to witness exam and retrieve carnet. Close the crate and walk away!

I just paid AU$650 broken down as follows:

Dimensions are: 62cm x 132cm x226cm = 1.85cubic metres
Crating AUD$308.00 (Includes GST)
Freight: AUD$277.50
Documentation: AUD$65.00
Total: AUD$650.50

The crate was big enuff to contain the whole bike with only the mirrors removed. I put 2 panniers and a top box in too!

No insurance as you can see. That would have been another hundred odd bucks.

... Yes it did arrive safely altho it wasn't tied down inside the crate and they had removed the handlebars which I had not asked them to do.

The agents here in the UK were really good - King International at Tilbury Docks. After a bit of initial confusion re: the carnet which I had to sort out they did everything for me. For a total of 209 GBP they cleared customs, got the carnet discharged, processed all the other paperwork and delivered the crate to central London. My free bonus was cartoons and the words Tomb Raider all over the crate which made me laugh!!!

Aus. $650.50 = approx. US$335

Bought an F650 here in NZ to replace my R100GSPD. Erin and I will continue on two F650s.

Shipment: From Delhi, India to Boston, United States - July, 2001

Mukesh operates out of Karol Bagh in Delhi, he specializes in putting together dream Enfields for foreigners, or selling off the lot or renting.

I bought my Enfield from someone else toured for 10 months, then shipped it home via Mukesh. I had it repainted, a bunch of parts replaced, tuned up, customized it, etc. Then Mukesh made all the arrangements with the shippers. He arranged all the customs forms, shipping from Delhi to Bombay by train and loading onto the ship.

I was able to get email updates by Mukesh on the location of the bike. He was extremely helpful, and honest.

Once the motorcycle arrived I paid an additional $350 for the shipper to unload, overland to Boston, transfer papers from Indian Customs etc.

Customes was a BREEZE! The people in the Boston office were super helpful and went out of their way to help. Registering the motorcycle in Massachusetts was unbelievably easy, I am still in shock. It took an act of god to register my car several years back.

The reason this was so easy: I bought a motorcycle that was over 25 years old. If the bike is over 24 years old it is exempt from taxes, DOT and Highway standards. No bond needs to be posted... nothing!

I'm still in shock on how simple it was.

US$350. including crating

Gail Goodman, Shipping Manager

We got the original of the shipping contract from Motorcycle Express by UPS, to a motel we stayed at the time in Vancouver.

Excellent service : 1 day in advance we had to bring our motorbike to a freight company near Vancouver international airport. We only had to empty the fuel tank down to about 4 liters/ 1 gallon and disconnect the battery. Our aluminium panniers remained at the bike (fully packed with personal effects), width 105 cm/42 inches!

The bike was put in a huge aluminium cage by the freight company workers and was flown to Frankfurt in the same plane we sat the next day. In Frankfurt we had to take a taxi to a freight terminal (approx. 20 Euro), sign some papers, pay about 10 Euro, connect the battery and drive away!

US$ 1,070
