Defender 110 TD5 For Sale - UK

Due to a knee injury my Defender has to go. It's pretty much expedition ready- depending on your individual preferences. I'm advertising it here first at what I think is a very reasonable price in the hope that someone will find it useful for overlanding.

I was going to use it in the Sahara myself, but alas no more. I have had one trip to northern Spain in it, this summer, without any issues. Previous owner from new was a London business that used it to tow a trailer.

It is in excellent condition, the best chassis (protected from new and no rust showing at all) and bodywork I've seen on a 7 year old ('99) Defender. 3 door, full service history (including recent coolant and brake fluid changes), 130k miles, reliable. Seats up to 5 (or 3-4 in comfort) as it has a custom second row of seating fitted. It has a rear bed conversion, comfy drivers seat (and original) Cost nearly £8k in the summer, I'd like £6000 for it. located near Derby.

It had a new OE clutch & recon gearbox (by Matt Savage) in July. There are a few upgrades- steel steering guard, front diff guard, both precautionary for expeditions, never tested off-road, and a sand plate carrier. It has a snorkel and rear work light.

Any questions, please ask here or PM me, skype me etc.

PS If you look at the MRI picture of my knee, from the link above, the black triangle on the right side of the joint is the medial meniscus (the cartilage in the middle of the joint) this has been divided into two triangles in the picture by a horizontal tear. I'm waiting fur surgery in around 6 months, then I should have some improvement and will probably get a car with a clutch again.

Sad that you have to sell your truck Ian, but why not get it converted to auto? that way you can keep it and still drive it?

Thanks for your concerns, that's a good option, but not really for me as the clutch is only part of my problem. I need to change my whole lifestyle for a while- I couldn't explore on foot the interesting places it could get me to and I'd struggle to make any repairs on the way, even mending punctures. If I get it muddy near home I can't crouch down to wash the mud off underneath.

I don't feel sad about it, I've been very lucky to survive intact for so long, but I'd prefer not to be driving a vehicle that's difficult to park, noisy at 90 (ok 70!) & a constant reminder of the next big trip.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
