Moving back to SA
Hi
We're considering moving back home in the new year and I'd like to take my D2 with me but have a few questions to ask...
Is it economical to import a Land Rover in to SA?
Who would you recommend?
Ideas on costs?
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction, if possible I would like to stick the car and all my furniture into one container?
any advice appreciated
Pete

Hi,
I'm just trying to do the same and was quoted roughly 1700 eur for 40' container (for two defenders) I suppose it would be enough for landy and your stuff too.
Contact, or have a look at their site.
gmikus@go2uti.com
Oh, and the quote was for Prague to Hamburg and CT...
All the best.

Hi,
You vehicle will be much cheaper to bring back than to replace here.
If you are a returning resident, there is no duties on it.
I got quoted 1500 Pounds for a container to Cape Town. Roll On Roll Off ship for car only is about 900 Pounds.
Give these guys a call:

Shipping to Southern Africa
Hi,
I have worked with the Foley family....
Landrover conversions by Foley Specialist Vehicles
.... and they are now very good friends of mine.
We met when they shipped out my landie to Namibia. If they have other people interested they will put two or three vehicles in a container, reducing your cost. Or... yes, the furniture can go in..... also they can let you know the current situation with South African importing.
Hope this helps.
Brian

South African Removals are good.
They will use Advance Transport in Cape Town
Advance Transport > Contact Us ( DNN 3.2.2 )
I have shipped a few items via Advance Transport, no problems, fast and efficient.

Thank you everyone, that's why I like this forum, ask a crazy question that you think know one will know the answer to and get loads of useful replies.
Years spent on forums and I'm still amazed by them.
Cheers
Pete
