Vehicle storage near London?
Whilst I was away on my trip London changed its rules so I can't drive in it any more (unless I want to pay £100 a day).

Does anybody have any suggestions where I can store my Landy near London?

Hi Darrin,

Landys are only elligable for the low emission zone if they have van bodies. A station wagon does not have to pay as it is not considered a commercial vehicle. Is it possible for you fit a couple of windows and reregister the body type with the DVLA?

I think you are well wide of the mark here, go to the LEZ website and put in your registration number in and that will tell if the vehicle compliant or not; I had to get rid of my Transit, and still hoping barmy Boris dies a slow painful death.

Sorry Palace15, I've spent a great deal of time looking at the LEZ regs and I'm certain your wrong on this issue.

Your transit is considered a commercial vehicle, regardless of the body type, as it was only ever made as a van/minibus. The land rover station wagon is not considered as commercial as it is lumped in with large private cars.

If the landy meets the requirements of a station wagon, you will need to make sure that it does not also meet those of a motor caravan as they will defer to that body type which is not exempt from the LEZ.

We've updated our database to reflect these vehicles' emissions standards.
A small number of Defenders, 90s and 110s may be a 'station wagon', but may not be classified as such by the DVLA. If your vehicle has side windows and fixed seats in the back of the vehicle, and up to 9 seats including the drivers seat, it will not be subject to the LEZ.

Thanks Nick, much appreciated mate. I was aware of this, but I'm broke after a long trip so it's too much to organise it all now. And as I need a new bulkhead I'll look to sort it all out then etc

This post had good info I thought:

I support the idea of the lez, but it is silly that you can have two exactly the same vehicles, same engine, same pollution, but they are classed differently because of a few windows.

Questions: You only need one extra window on each side? What size, just any window? And do the seats have to be forward facing, or can they be military seats facing inwards?
