Australia to UK

I am looking to ship my bike back to the UK next September 2013.

Any thoughts, recommendations on shipping agents/companies that I could turn to.

Anyone with previous experience of having done this, would be very much listened to.

Regard

Ride it! We did, it was a fantastic experience. We did it pretty quickly (5 months) and had a ball. If you really can't get to do that why not try James Cargo in the UK for a reverse shipment? They seem to be the Co. most people use to fly bikes from UK. If you get sea freight quotes be careful to ensure that the quote includes EVERYTHING so once completed you can ride/courier the bike/crate away. There are often lots of hidden charges, more so in sea ports than airports. I'd fly it if you afford the extra bit of money, sea can be a real pain.

Best of luck

Shipping Aus to Uk

Try Richard Dexter at Blue Freight. Richard@bluefreight.com He is based in Melbourne and regularly ships to UK. We used him Aus to Chile and he made it easy. Invoice was easily understood as to what you were getting for your money. All agents I know of don't include import fees etc at the other end but you can do that yourself in UK. Or if you have the time, ride back like Will and Kate. Met them in London, great company and their book is a good read!

I used Tradelanes in Melbourne. Pretty good service, and I paid only about 700€ total to send a DL650 Sydney-Helsinki by sea in 2008. See this thread:

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
