Bike to rent over Xmas in NZ
Hi
I am in NZ for a few weeks over Xmas. I have looked at the cost of bike hire in NZ and its quite expensive and the bikes are all big ADV bikes.
I am keen to do a little ridding (to get away from the mother in law). Not to fussy on the type or size of bike. I will be based in the Waikato but can travel to you.
I am hoping that one of the people on this forum are going away over Xmas so I can help them by storing their bike and giving them some cash,.
Regards
Don

Insurance is one of the reasons for a fairly high rental cost. Even when there is a large excess.
For short term rental the BMW shop in Mt Maunganui has a few options.
Bike Hire - Mount Motorcycles
My bike won't be used over Christmas, but the insurance risk is too high to let anyone borrow it. And I've just sold the small bike which wasn't worth much more than the excess on the Mount Motorcycles rentals.
Good luck finding a ride.

You could try Waikato Car and Commercial Rentals. They have some bikes, including a cheap GN250.
Cheers

Thanks I have emailed them. I would ride a GN250 to get away from the mother in law. They don't seem to have a GN now. They have a CB now

That's odd. I was there a week ago and there was a GN250 parked. Email them and ask for Murray to check for you. Tell him Nigel sent you!
Cheers

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
