Bike Wanted April 2017

Hello All,

My Wife and I are traveling to NZ for our honeymoon from April 1- April 28. We'd love to borrow/rent a motorcycle so we can do some moto-camping while we're there.

Alternatively, are there any "good" commercial rental options?

Thank you so much!

Joey.

Hi Joey,
My husband and I are currently travelling in NZ on motorcycles. This is an awesome place for riding and camping.
We have a Suzuki DL650 for sale that we will leave in Christchurch at the end of our trip. See our add posted 2 weeks ago under the Travel Bikes for Sales/Wanted. You will easily find it in page 2 with the title: New Zealand for Sale - Suzuki DL650. Send me a PM if you want more info and pictures.
Thanks,
Claire

Hi Joey
There are several hire companies in NZ, the most suitable will depend on what type of bike you want and where you will arrive. The majority of bike hire companies are in Auckland & Christchurch but there's a few non-advertised places that will hire a bike if you ask.
Be prepared to pay at least NZ$100 per day.
Even if you hire an 'adventure' bike, the insurance will most likely prevent you from travelling along the 4x4 tracks; gravel roads are standard in NZ but best check they're covered.
Buying a bike is easy - you just need an NZ address. It could be a much better deal but you get the hassle of selling it on later. However, you may be able to find a dealer or an individual willing to sell it for you for commission. No paperwork is involved so there's no issue if you've already left the country

Camping spots are everywhere, ranging from $10 DOC sites in stunning remote locations and $40 fully serviced holiday parks. Ensure your gear is clean on arrival.

Happy Holidays!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
