ISO Australian XRV or Taller Dualsport: Buy, Rent or Trade for American SW XRV750
Australian AdvRiders,
Hello. I hope this post finds you well.
I am about to finish a two month tour of New Zealand and will tour Australia for three to six months. Please contact me if you may:
* Consider selling your XRV/dualsport during the next few weeks or months.
* Consider renting (selling & buy back) your XRV/dualsport for 3-6 months
* Consider an XRV/dualsport trade for access to a nice XRV750 (RD04) in SoCal with easy access to California, Utah, Colorado & Arizona
My 1991 RD04 will be setup with a 40 liter (10+ gallon) fuel tank, taller suspension, hard or soft panniers, choice of tires for a comparable duration with unlimited mileage.
A few links reflecting my XRV's:

I will arrive in Sydney, December 19th and will consider a fly & ride purchase or rental. Btw, I will consider other dualsport models suitable for taller riders within the 600-1000cc range. I am also open to ride trades with others from India, Southeast Asia, South America or Europe.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
David

You will not find an XRV for sale or rent in Australia, never an official import & the ones there are (a dozen or so) are/were private imports & highly collectable.
Try a DR650 that has been set up for long distance outback riding (big tank) reasonable price & they do the job just fine.
Renting is expensive in OZ, buying a bike is the way to go.

Mezo,
Hello and thank you for your reply. I understand my request is a long shot. However, some passions fade and one's interests may drift onto another model. All motorcycles eventually change hands for one reason or another.
I am hoping to find a taller rider for a bike-swap that appreciates comfortable ergonomics and a mutually beneficial opportunity. The delays and costs associated with a round-trip shipment (bio-security, port fees, carnet) is a much higher percentage of the value of the motorcycle than in the past and doesn't justify shipping from one continent to another.
If a taller AUS rider is interested in an American tour on a nice Honda XRV750 Africa Twin (RD04), please send a private message.
The Africa Twin will be setup with the following:
* Rally fuel tank (40 liter)
* Two inch suspension lift
* Progressive springs (Front) & Heavier German spring (rear)
* Kahedo Seat (Company Touratech acquired)
* Aftermarket Leo Vince Exhaust
* Longer Stainless Steel Brake Lines
* Two inch handle bar risers
* MotoBau foot peg lowering kit
* Taller windscreen
* GPS
* Jesse Luggage Pannier Racks
* Happy Traisl Hard Panniers
* Nelson Riggs Soft Panniers
* Happy Trails Top Box/Trunk
* Spares Kit
* Power Sockets/Plugs
* Front Wheel Support Rod & Mount (tire changes)
* Engine/Fairing Guards with RotoPax Mounts (2 gallons)
If a trade or swap opportunity is not possible, I may simply look into buying and selling. (Taller riders: Please let me know if you have an altered motorcycle setup for taller riders to sell.)
Thanks again!

Hi
I just finished my one week rush around NZ and will fly to Melbourne today (friday Dec 8th). I'll be in Australiuntil January 24th and would like to meet you somewhere.
I'm riding with my RD07 if it ever gets to Melbourne. I'm nearly losing my hope...
PM me about your plans in Australia and maybe we'll meet.

100% correct rarely does an XRV come on to the market and as many of us know (or at least know of each other) they sell fast to very small community.
Getting a DR or Other bike would not be hard.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
