Mitchell Falls - early June 2024

Dear HUBBers is anyone familiar with Mitchell Plateau Rd conditions at the beginning of June? I'm attempting to drive solo, rented a regular Landcruiser this route. Would that be doable? If anyone is planning to do the same route, I'm more than grateful if I can join.

We visited Mitchell Falls in June 2019. We did not drive the whole way from the GRR - we took a light plane into the strip, then drove to the point where you can walk up to the falls. That part of the road (track) was dry and good. Not a lot of water in the falls, though.

I drove the entire road back in July 2018 in a 4x4 Hilux. It didn't require 4x4 at all back then, but there was one axle deep water crossing that looked much worse than it turned out to be. My memory was that it took around 3-4 hours. It was kinda bumpy in places, and lots of small curves, but other than that not difficult.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
