New to Australia

Hi, My wife and I will come to Australia in August this year. We've been granted a recedence visa and will eventualy stay for long term, but first we will tour around the country for 4-5 months before setling down. We're bringing our BMW GS with us. We're currently in South America. Plan is to start in Victoria, and drive anti clockwise around the country. Would be nice to meet up with some of you guys down there that also love Adventure Touring like us.

Cheers

Johan

Heading to the UK end of April with our Tiger for 4 months then will be in West Australia after September. If we have a place by then feel free to call in. Bound to be a spare bed.

Johan,

We will be in Europe in September and October, but if you keep to the plan of doing Oz anti-clockwise, by the time you get to Adelaide we should be back. Drop us a line when you are closer....always a spare bed available.

Thanks a million guys. what a way to be welcomed to our new country. We are currently in Ecuador, enjoying the mountains in South America. We arrive somewhere in August (like I said), but it seems that it will take time to import the bike, and get myself a new Australian driving licence and some other regestrations. This is needed because we come in on a Resedence visa, not a tourist visa. We might be on the road only in November, but we will contact each of you to come and say hi.
We will spend more time touring in Queensland and South Australia, as this is the two areas we are looking at settling down.

Cheers

johan

drop in on your way around Johan, I'm in north west WA

Might be a bit tricky travelling in the north of Aust from Dec-March as it's the wet season but if you have time to wait for floods it's all good

Am at Evans Head, 1700kms north of Melbourne and if you're taking the Pacific Hwy to get north, (I wouldn't want to) then you stop off and we have ground for you to camp on. Can use our shower facilities and service your bike etc. See you're talking about starting going north in November but by the time you get to top in Dec, it will be deadly hot. IMHO it's too late and you'll fry if you start to go anywhere inland rather than the coast. Temps will be 40-45 and your 'juices' start to dry up on a bike. Anti clockwise is the way to go but..........

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
