Hi.
1. It's possible that the fuel level sensor is stuck somehow.
The earlier GS's use a float sensor.
Try rocking the bike when it's half full of fuel to see if the float frees up.
Failing that give the pump/sensor connectors a good clean.
If no good you could remove the pump/sensor unit and have a check/clean ect.
2. Likely that the wiring on the actual grip itself has worn and broken.
The RH grip wears due to its throttle movement.
If you "peel" back the rubber grip from the LH side you will see the wiring connected to the silver heating element that is wrapped round the grip. This is the usual place it breaks.
Re-connect or solder if you can.
