BMW 2015 GSA Clutch Slave Cylinder Recall/ Service inspection
Hi All,
You may or may not be aware that BMW also have a Clutch Slave Cylinder concern. Now they havent called it a recall but dealers are told to inspect the Clutch Slave cylinder when they come in for service. I believe it is K50/51 models.
My wife and I are at the beginning of our 3 year RTW trip and received the fork recall info while in La Paz Bolivia. Having a gap of 2mm (as opposed to the .2mm cut off point) we have been waiting 4 weeks for the replacement forks to arrive.
While the bike was left standing for a couple of weeks I noticed a small oil leak. Having inspected the bike on a daily basses this came as a big surprise. On taking it to the dealer In La Paz again the mechanic felt it was clutch oil and on further investigation I discovered that BMW had an issue with the slave cylinders leaking and loss of oil. Ours was removed and it was the Slave. On inspection the Clutch resivour was empty. I believe we got to it just in time as Neutral to First was just getting a bit "Clunky" but otherwise there didnt appear to be any issue.
Just to let everyone know...... and hopefully we wont have to wait to much longer for our forks
David
