Side Stand for a R100 GS
Hi folks
I need a decent sidestand from my 1989 GS. I've been told that the Surefoot will fit, but needs adapting. Does anyone supply one that can be more easily fitted than this? All information welcome... (including details of Surefoot or other sidestand manufacturers)

Bracken tell me they no longer provide a sidestand for the R100 GS - however since I posted this message I have been sent an email which put me in touch with Ernie at Overland Solutions (e-mail: ernie@overland-solutions.com). He is able to do the work - not sure how much it will cost though and the stand can be built to my specification.

Ernie has seen mine, and we have discussed making replicas, so I suspect that's pretty much what you'll get. It's bullet-proof, works great - originally a Brown /2 stand hacked to fit just below the footpeg. Easy to use, out of the way, solid.

any possibility of posting detailed picture of your stand?
I'd like to duplicate a good side stand design

I've used a Boxxerworks (Germany) sidestand which I'm happy with although it seems not to suit shorter riders. I've since fitted their crash bars which the sidestand also fits. See http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...idestand-46285 There's also this one (much like Ernies) for $200 - sidestands
A decent stand makes a huge difference in parking a heavy bike, especially when loaded. The centre stand is often impossible to use unless assistance is available.

I found with my R100GS-Paris Dakar with it's sidestand attached to the bottom of the crash bars, being short in the leg (in fact, all over) I couldn't fully extend the thing whilst seated. This proved rather embarassing when I arrived somewhere and couldn't get my leg over because of all of my bags. I bought a copy of a Surefoot which is a bit on the chunky side so will make something similar but neater.
