Yep, I always carry ptfe, great against all kinds of leakages.
Another specific technique for seasoned ptfe bodgers is to try and build up lots of tape under the head of the bolt progressively, to create a kind of taper that will (hopefully) seal very easily against the hole even if the bolt cannot be done up too tight. Useful if the hole the bolt passes through also acts as an oil gallery.
The bastard I bought my dr350 off had stripped the oil sump plug thread, and to hide it he'd took the crush washer off to gain about a turn and a bit of good thread then wrapped the bolt in over half a roll of ptfe. It worked though as I did about 500 miles on the bike before changing the oil and finding it, and it never leaked in that time.
