All day boots for wide feet

Hi everyone

I am looking at buying new boots and would appreciate your advice. I am after boots that can be worn all day for green laning and some light hiking. Being waterproof is absolutely essential as well. In essence something with decent protection that can be worn all day. I am going on a 4 month trip next year and want them for that as well.I have quite wide feet and have had problems finding work boots in the past. I quite like the Alpinestars Belize drystar.

Thanks

My daughter has Altberg boots for hiking. She did a load of walking on the Silk Road alongside a group of other people and she was the only one that wasn’t suffering with sore feet. In fact the day after we bought them she climbed a mountain in the Lake District without breaking them in at all - no issues. One thing she did get was good socks - one layer, not two as I had been taught to do. The other thing was that we made sure that they were a really good fit and as part of the package she had insole support as her arches aren’t great - it would therefore probably be worth going to the factory to get a good fitting.

I always had problems with foot width over years and always found that I prefer Tecnica over Head. But...as ansta1 says there are so many factors to consider that I'm not sure I'd ever consider buying a pair that never tried. Good luck.

Altbergs here too, treat them to a regular deep and generous brushing of leder gris wax to maintain waterproofing. Might not be the most armoured boot out there but very comfortable and good enough for the occasional hike.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
