Reptiles? Bloody spellcheck. I meant reproofs! Mind you, the rear pocket could get a few big reptiles in it...

Claymore wouldn't answer the phone, didn't answer my e-mails and when they did, quoted a long wait. Sounds like they got their act together now though, this was last year.
The £99 one works and is perfect after a year. A chap I met with the £45 one thought it'd last a year but was happy that once proofed it was fine. It looked OK. This is only thick cotton, nothing high tech that would stop the Chinese making them. I've not seen any one with one since to compare 12 month old jackets with.
So, having spend £99 to be happy, assuming it'll be another couple of years before it'll be trashed, in 2013 I'll have to decide about spending £200+ with Claymore, £45 a year or another £99 with the Egyptians. The armour would indeed sway me towards Claymore but I think it really is a case of getting what you pay for.

Bellend,
For the benefit of all those who like this forum to be free from advertising, can you please confirm whether you have any connection to Claymore?
I find it interesting that you have only joined this forum in the last 24 hours and have made four posts about how great Claymore jackets are within that time.
This forum takes a dim view of people who try to advertise without seeking the approval of Grant in advance.
If this is not the case, my apologies, however until you make valid contributions to other sections of the forum, then I will be taking your statements about Claymore with a grain of salt.

NEVER MIND ABOUT GRANT, I TAKE A DIM VIEW OF PEOPLE THAT HI-JACK MY THREADS ABOUT TOP QUALITY, STYLISH AND FASHIONABLE BELSTAFF JACKETS THAT, IN MY OPINION, ARE GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY AND BEAUTIFULLY MADE, JUST SO THEY CAN YAK ON ABOUT TUPPENNY-HALFPENNY EGYPTIAN DROSS OR OTHER CHEAP IMITATIONS.

Wax Cotton Jackets
I thought I'd bump this thread and post some pics of the Frank Thomas Wax Jacket I bought at the beginning of the winter.
I ride a Triumph Scrambler and I wanted a cool retro jacket but didn't want to spend £500. A search on the net and I found this offering. I've been wearing it now for three months and it is bullet proof and beautifully made. All for just £160 and it comes with armour too.
The pics shown here are after a ride over Dartmoor in the p***ing rain - hence it looks soaked;

Interesting thread, thanks.
I am trying to decide between the Frank Thomas and the Sunstuff six days. The price of the Frank Thomas is better.
1. What is the cotton quality of the Frank Thomas, can't find that anywhere (Sunstuff is 12 oz)?
2. Any more long term user experiences / suggestions regarding the Frank Thomas jacket?
