Help - Camping Gear London
Does anyone know any decent camping stores in greater London? I depart for a 6 month overland trip to Cape Town on Monday and am desperately looking for quality tents and camping furniture. Places like Blacks, Go-outdoors etc are all either aimed at the hiking market or sell cheap and nasty gear.

Field and Trek in Covent Garden or Lillywhites on Regent Street might be your best bets.
The other option (if you have the time and don't want to buy online and risk stuff not turning up before you go) would be to get up the Lake District and hunt around the stores in Ambleside etc. They tend to have much better product ranges than their southern counterparts.
Good luck with the trip.

Head for Covent Garden-
On the south side, Snow and Rock, Ellis Bingham, Rohan(clothing) and one other-
On the way there almost opposite Fortnums and Masons is Cotswolds.

The best place that I've found (apart from the lake district which is a very good option!) is Go Outdoors in Colindale.
GO Outdoors Colindale Store Page
They are really very big and have a lot of little bits and pieces that you wont find anywhere else.
Highly recommended!

The Outdoor Shop in Stony Stratford near Milton Keynes is not too far away from London and is on a par with some of the shops in Cumbria that Iain mentioned.
The staff all seem pretty knowledgable

Depending on what you want to buy / spend look up Army & Navy Stores one near manor park (just outside the eastend),

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
