XplorerMoto tyre repair kit includes a neat very small 12v job. I haven't needed to use it "in the field" yet, but I did let my tyres down at home just to try it out. Pumped them both up fine. Just had to do it in stages as it got quite hot on the second wheel. I reality you would just do one - HOPEFULLY ! Also carry a small manual cycle pump, any good cycle shop has them.

BesrRest

I used a BestRest Cyclepump for an 18 month trip, and put it to use a LOT.
I'd estimate it was used over 60 times on that trip.

In Siberia I had 9 flats in a single day.
Good quality piece of kit, I still use it now.

There are cheaper ones, that might well be as good. But when I was out in the sticks I was happy to have something I felt I could rely on.

I went for a foot pump. Less prone to failure. It has two setting options
1 = high volume,
2 = high pressure.

I use one from Aerostitch. Comes with a handy carabiner which means I can hang in off the pannier rails and allow airflow to keep it cool. Bought a Hella plug and fitted that in place of the cigarette lighter, so it just pugs in on either power source on the bike.

Thumbs up Air compressor recommended

I bought the little one from Slime, it fits easily under my saddle, has a power socket plug or spring clips on a very long cable, the valve stem connector is solid, and it works perfectly. I use it regularly at home for the bicycle, too.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
