2x KLR650s for sale early March in lower Central America

Hi all,

Myself and a buddy (Roger) are doing our first motorcycle tour through Mexico and Central America. We started in Los Angeles where we bought the KLR650s we´re currently riding (Californian plates). We plan to finish the trip early March in either Costa Rica or Panama (depends on how far we get). We plan on selling the bikes at the end of the trip (two KLRs, one 2006 and one 2007 model). They are awesomely capable machines and it´ll be hard to part with them as we´ve developed a strong bond with these beauties already! We have the original titles and registration papers.

The purpose of this thread is to either;
1. Find someone on this forum to buy them in whichever country we finish in (likely Costa Rica). This is not favourable as there are huge import duties there (60% of the vehicles value or similar!), or;
2. Ship them to Houston from Costa Rica, where they will be sold by a mate of ours who lives there. Is there anyone in Houston who is thinking about adventure biking and looking for two great bikes to ride? I´ve already checked out the ´Shipping´ section of HUBB and contacted a couple of companies who ship between the USA and Costa Rica/Panama.

If anyone has any better ideas about what we can do with these bikes at the end of the trip please feel free to share! Obviously we´d like to get as much money back after we´ve sold the bikes as possible, but we´re also considering convenience in this whole equation. Also if anyone has any shipping contacts that haven´t been mentioned on this site (Costa Rica Cargo World CRC SA or GIRAG Panama) I´d appreciate the heads up!

Cheers,

Michael and Roger

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
