Anyone tried Corinto crossing from Honduras to Guatemala
I Want to try it but after trying to cross at a smaller crossing and getting denied re-entry in CR, I just want to make sure that I won't have to do another 750 km detour !!!!

As was
It has been about 5 years since I last usedEl Corinto and back then it was already a good crossing with Honduran Aduana service. Back then the Guatemalans did not yet have their offices at the border and I had to go to their
customs terminal in the port area of Puerto Barrios to get the paperwork done.
Be sure you still have the papers from the first transit of Guatemala from this trip and it will speed up processing a bit.
About three years ago the Corinto crossing was severely damaged in a river flood from a tropical storm but it should be rebuilt by now . Anybody have more current info ? I would like to know too

crossed over end of january, huge concrete park on honduras side with nobody there when we arrived, closes around 7pm though.
8km to Guate migra which is a small office on the roadside then 2km to aduana which closes early too, do not arrive after about 5.30!!
I too had to go to the aduana in puerto barrios because of a late arrival

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
