Camping in Latin America
Hello Everyone,
My spouse and I just got back from an 8 month trip through Latin America (starting in Canada). We are avid campers and probably went to more effort than most to find places to camp so I thought I'd share our list of Official Camping spots. LINK
Check out our blog for pictures of the different campsites. Personally my favourite was Ecovenao in Panama. Great, peaceful spot to chill out for a few days.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about specific locations.
Also We used there two sources a lot to find places to camp:
camping in mexico - rv trip - central america tour - guatemala tourism
Dare2Go.com - Our Travel Journal, covering North-, Central- and South-America
It is pretty easy to get all the way to Chile without needing to camp but I found that camping let us stay in really cool places you wouldn't otherwise stay if you were only hoteling it. It's about your personal style of traveling and if you feel that it's worth bringing all that extra gear.

Thanks for that. My fiance and I are heading south on our Ural. We love the camping style of traveling as well and your references will be handy for us. Especially on those occasions when we can't be asked to do our own research!

Honduras
I camped at the D&D Brewpub near Lago Yojoa in Honduras. There's camping, freshly brewed ales, food, and a little soaking pool. It was supposed to be $2US to camp but after all the ales and margaritas I consumed I think the owner simply "forgot" to charge me for the camping.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
