Ferry
After you get off at Topo don't ride at night, book a place and start fresh.
I just returned from a ride through Mexico, so keep me updated.

yep on that
Thanks. I am aware of a few canadians in a van that where killed a year or so ago around Los Mochis. I guess after stopping at an Oxxo/7/11 they parked on the side of the highway. I got the names of a few hotels that are secure in Los Mochis from a friend whose got family there. My trips being delayed anyways..hope to get away next week. For now its just nice being home in the Baja.

Fastfreddy , I think you are getting the story a bit confused and you are probably referring to the incident in 2015 where two Australians were murdered while camping in their van along a roadside in Sinaloa
See this link : https://amp.theguardian.com/world/20...alian-tourists , and related items .
As to a list of “ safe hotels “ in Los Mochis , I think that is a bit of overblown concern - there are lots of good hotels in Los Mochis which you can use with no worry about safety .
I use the Hotel Montecarlo in the old city center if I can get there .
Last week however the ferry to Topo which we used was knocked off its schedule and arrived in Topo at 2:30 am - the middle of the night !! . Not really a problem as there is a wonderful hotel called Marina Hotel right in Topolobampo barely a kilometre out of the ferry terminal. . We just drove up to their gate rang the buzzer and were booked into an excellent room within ten minutes. We slept well until 9 am and had breakfast in the hotel restaurant . Again I highly recommend this hotel to every body who has a late ferry arrival( anytime after sunset ) It is much better than trying to race to Los Mochis in the dark .

I had 4 friends robbed last year, near the ferry. Its not just an isolated occurance near here,, just be aware, I just wanted to remind riders to be aware, about riding at night.

And I agree with you 100% Jeff .You gave excellent and standard advice for travel anywhere .
I was referring to the question of Fast Freddy who was seeking a " safe hotel " in Los Mochis ,apparently unaware of the great hotel in Topo. Stopping in Topo is the smart way to avoid trying to race to Los Mochis after dark .
Some riders need to overcome the tendency to seek out a perceived "safe haven" and then to bolt for it regardless of what lies between or the time of day .
Bushwackers and drunk drivers and ,deer and other wildlife and lounging cattle and horses come out onto the roads at night .
End the risks and get a room before dark , wherever you are . Do not get blinded by commitments and reservations made too far in advance .
