Getting to be difficult to find a nice quiet no-mans' land to swap vehicles to new owners.

No regular Migracion nor Aduana services on either side of river. To be legal to exit / enter you need to seek out those services at the nearest official entry point* point.
In Mexico that means heading for La MESILLA or El CEIBO
In Guatemala you go to La MESILLA or El Ceibo * or the Belize border at Melchor de Mencos and get officially entered , before you try to exit .

We drove from Mexico to Guatemala through La Mesilla in June. Checking out of Mexico was super easy, they were super professional and we got our deposit back on our credit card in days. Checking into Guatemala was also easy, aside from needing to pay for everything in cash and Quetzales, which meant a lousy exchange rate from the money changers. However it was still less than USD 40. It was a Sunday, which probably influenced things for good and bad. The border officials were also enamored with the televised football game, which probably also helped. They did ask if we had anything to declare, but didn't press the issue.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
