Riding in Veracruz

Some people are curious about the riding here. Once you get off of the extremely boring Mex #180 highway and actually experience what the state has to offer, you'll probably like it.
Here is a typical day ride, nothing too exciting, rates about a 5 on the scale of 1 to 10 with the 10 being a wow.
We have no shortage of wows, by the way.

The video was shot by DC, a visiting rider on his way south who went for a little ride with me.

This route was Veracruz to La Antigua toll (almost all tolls are half price for bikes now in Mexico and save a huge amount of time and/or fuel in many instances) the alternative to this toll was to either skirt it by going under the road through a cut out and then follow the river on a tope filled stretch with too much traffic on a Saturday morning and miss the Cardel bypass), next is the drop down to Boca Andrea outside of the Laguna Verde nuclear power plant towards Palma Sola and that was it for the coast highway Mex #180, used simply to get from point A to some place more interesting, next is the Misantla-Naolinco highway to the clouds which is aptly named (you have now gone from sea level to over 7,000ft in about 2 hours, if you want to get higher, head past Texmaliquilla, Puebla from Veracruz and you'll be over 14,000ft in about 2 and a half hours), next was a newly concreted section of road that leads towards El Huerfano, Veracruz, next was below Naolinco and into the Actopan valley, and then back in the city with some odd unseasonable afternoon fog along the main boulevard that skirts the ocean here. About 9 hours or so with stops for a great home cooked style breakfast and wood oven cooked pizza and a couple of Dos Equis ambers afterwards.

Yes, a camel. You never know what you are going to find on a secondary route through Veracruz.
