Yep. I can only agree with this again. Copan Ruinas is the crossing to do when you go from Guatemala to Honduras. Quieter, friendlier and cost for us too was US$35 in December 2004.
With regard to the paved road and for clarity, the road is totally paved now all the way from when you leave the Pan Am on the Guatemalan side (a few miles after Chiquimuli) up to El Florido and then on the Honduras side all the way back to you meet the main raod to go either upto San Pedro de Sula or down to Santa Rosa.
