nice idea, wrong country. i would bet you will not be able to accomplish your goal without your friend having trouble.
1. if he is not a resident he cannot register a vehicle. period.
2. several years ago, a US fire dept donated a fire truck to a volunteer fire dept in granada. customs refused to release the truck until taxes were paid. the fight went on for YEARS, though i think eventually the local FD was able to get the truck.
3. bikes over ten years old may NOT be imported. period no exceptions.
4. you are better off donating cash and having him buy a bike locally and get it registered in someone else's name.
5. most local bikes are chinese but yamaha is available as are other jap brands. parts for the jap bikes will be costly and rarely kept in stock--60-90 day wait.
