Longterm parking on the Yucatan Penisula.
Been offered a job for a few months in Europe over and after the christmas period. Would be pretty awesome to stem the steady outgoing flow of cash so plan to take it.
Problem is that I'm flying out on the 24th of nov and wont be able to make it up to the states without stressing and missing out on the more fun routes in Mexico. Rather fly out of Cancun and come back with fresh cash in my pocket.

If anyone would be able to host my bike or know of the best way of stowing it around these parts I would be eternally greatful!
Is the Airport the best option or would it be easier to put it in Cozumel, Tulum or Playa del Carmen?

And also, not wanting my TVIP to run out (bad idea from what I hear) I might do a border run to Belize. Is the mandatory insurance really mandatory or can you avoid it somehow? Or maybe even extend the TVIP in country?

Talk to BANJERCITO about suspending the TVIP if you are unable to get it renewed for long enough to encompass your stay outside Mexico
.
On Sept 23 this year here on HU in this very forum MikeLeinweber explained how he left his bike in Mexico and got the okay from BANJERCITO , but it entailed him forfeiting the security deposit .
Scroll down a number of posts to the one about Longterm parking near Cancun.

Best bet for storage would probably be at a trusted person's place.

Because I have a bit of flexibilty in the job I'm taking and seeing as I would forfeit my $400 anyways I think I might just head over the border to Belize and back again for a new TVIP. Only plan on working 4-5 months anyways.

Still looking for a place to park the motorcycle though =/

I usually park a vehicle in Tulum for the summer.

I can point you to a place where they will (for a reasonable fee) look after a bike for you.

Hi also looking into what/where u guys used to store your bikes in the quintana roo area.
Im on rtw trip but need to store the bike n gear here for a month or two and return to continue trip.
Any leads is appreciated.

How long do you intend to store the bike in the Tulum area , it makes a difference . ?
If you will return to take the bike onward and out of Mexico BEFORE the 180 days of the TVIP expire it would be fine to leave it in any storage service you can locate .
If you are thinking of leaving it beyond the duration of the TVIP you need to contact BANJERCITO and make arrangements so that you can legally and more easily obtain a temporary extension which will allow use of the bike and removal from Mexico . You will forfeit the security deposit , as others have described .
Tulum is quite the tourist town and may now have storage-cubicle services . If not in Tulum then they are for certain available in Cancient which is nearer the airport anyway . Simply google search for that service in Cancun and you will get results .

Since my previous post I have completed a trip through Mexico in April and at the border I picked up several informational pamphlets , one of which contained this useful information for those wishing to store bikes long term in Mexico .


Direct quote from the official Mexican pamphlet :
"""
SAFE RETURN OF VEHICLE
If you were not able to return your vehicle abroad before the Permit deadline , request an authorization at the Adminstración Central de Apoyo Juridico de Auditoria de Comercio Exterior or to the Administraciones de Comercio Exterior corresponding .

With this authorization you have 5 business days to return
with your vehicle through any border port, without any problems . """
End Quote .

Given five days to move the vehicle out of Mexico one can choose to make a speedy run north to the USA border from most of Mexico.
But if one is closet to the south frontier it will be equally acceptable to the Mexican authorities if one removes the bike to either Belize or Guatemala to comply.This will work even if the desire is to return to the USA . From BZ or from GT it will be acceptable to return to Mexico and arrange a fresh FMM and TVIP.

What have been the results?
