Mexico, deposit paid back?
Hi guys,
Does anybody know if you can get your Temp. Import deposit ($400 paid by credit card) back at the Tecate border crossing?
Cheers
Pete

Hi Pete,
Not at Tecate or Algodones. You need to go to Tijuana@ San Ysidro, Otay Mesa or Mexicali in that area. At least last time I checked.
Others may know more and things change, but I would route elsewhere.
Kindest regards,
John Downs

which ever boarder you leave mexico at make sure you go to the customs office . hand in your paper work they will then do the paper work to say you left the country with your Vechile. You get your money paid back into your card with in about 10 days. if you paid cash they will pay you back that there and then.Hope this helps.

Cheers guys, I had this reply from a friend in Guatemala
"Banejercito in CA border.
CALIFORNIA
Mexicali/Calexico, CA 6 AM till Midnight all week
Tecate/San Diego, CA 6 AM till Midnight all week
Tijuana/San Ysidro, CA 8 AM till 10 PM all week"
Could you argue the point and let me know the answer!!!
Cheers
Pete

If you are near or using the
Algodones crossing and want to get the TVIP and Tourist
Card looked after ( either coming into or leaving Mexico) consider
going to the crossing of San Luis Rio Colorado , Sonora south of Yuma
They have all services and could save you having to drive all the way
to Mexicali if that really was not in your plans
Algodones is only stark service village maybe 25 km north of San Luis and crosses into California west
of Yuma. AZ

Douglas is a good crossing with all services and its not that manic.
Possibly AZ is to far east for you though.
What ever, make sure you have good access to your vin plate as they take a photo of it and it can take them ages to get a good image.
We loved Baja.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
