Smaller bike rentals in Mexico
Hi. It looks like I have about 3 weeks vacation in the second half of this year. I'd like to fly into somewhere in Mexico and rent a motorcycle in the 250-400cc range.
When I look online, I find a few places that rent Harleys and BMWs. I would really prefer a nice light 250cc Tornado or 400cc Falcon.
If you know of anywhere that rents such bike in Mexico, please let me know.

For what they are going to charge you for a 3 week rental on a 400cc bike you can probably buy a 125 or 150cc cheap Chinese knock off and have your fun. $1,500 US will get you in the game with one of those.

True... but how long will it take to get the factura and registration done? I have thought of buying an Italika or Dinamo bike, but I imagine the paperwork would take at least one of my three weeks.
I'm certainly open to the idea, though; can you recommend a dealership that would help me with a purchase like this and ensure I can get the bike legal and on the road quickly..?

It took one hour here in Veracruz, but you might have some issues as you will be trying to do it as a tourist and not as a resident. I am not sure if you can register the bike as a tourist and with a tourist immigration document. Maybe Garry Diamond can shed some light on this one and save me a trip to have to go and ask at the state office.

I looked into once before and was told it could be done, I never really believe what I am told until it is a reality. You can buy a Honda 125 Tool for $14900 and if you want I can look into how quickly the paper work can be done. Of course this will then leave you with a slightly used Honda that you will have to figure out what to do with.

Sure, I'd really like that. I would just be coming into Mexico on an ordinary FMT tourist visa. Even if I go the rental method, I'm sure there are others who would also appreciate the information.

My wife is thinking of buying a Honda 125, at least that's what she said today. We could buy it and insure it. You could then use it for 3 weeks. We would charge you $4000 pesos. If you are interested just post here or send me a PM. When are you thinking of coming?
We can also put you up and show you around the city.

Less than $400 US for a bike for 3 weeks? Now THAT is a DEAL.
Cheers to Garry and the missus aka owner of the bike.
