Yep, fitted a reconditioned rad and changed top and bottom hoses, rad cap and thermostat about two years ago, didn't solve the problem though, so I am hoping this will:
Got the quote in on my new rad (currently 3 core but is being enlarged to 5 core): £400 inclusive of all parts and labour (please shout if you know someone who can do it cheaper!). So as soon as I get my spare car, "the skedonk" back on the road, I'll drop my truck into the shop.
Good thing you brought that up as I thought all rads were aluminium nowadays - I'll check with the guys sorting mine out. I look forward to doing a major trip soon and the last thing I need is to crack the head again especially if I am lucky enough to be stranded in some God forsaken backwater of post-colonial Africa with only an old Engel and a few crates of  between me and an insane flush of freedom surging through my chest!
