Yep - Tubeless...
I much prefer Tubeless - easy to repair with push through strings - the tyres run a bit cooler as there is no tube/tyre friction.
still carry patches and tubes just incase you get a larger cut or sidewall tear.
If a tyre gets badly damaged - repair it and put it on the rear where a blowout wont upset steering too much. - bearing in mind you wont be going very fast anyway ! (get the local guys to stitch and patch a damaged sidewall if you have to - though I would use it for piste only - not asphalt)
Like Rob, I think BF Goodrich are a good choice of tyre - Triguard sidewalls which are 1 ply better than most other Tubeless Radials and they handle low pressures very well - they also grip well on road and last for good mileage.
and yes - lots of punctures are caused by running too low a pressure for the terrain - as soon as the soft sand is finished - air up again to stop the sidewalls bulging out - and getting damaged on sharp rocks and tree stumps - especially in Mali.
Cheers
