Buying as non resident in Estonia?
Happy new year everyone!
I have been trying to look for the best/easiest country to buy a bike in as a non resident with plans to head into Russia/Stans. I got suggested Estonia as being an easier option in terms of logistics, I have read in a few forum posts that you don't need to be a resident to buy a bike as long as a local acts as your representative, the only info I can find on this is a about 3-4 years on the HUBB and cant find anything related through Google.
mototehnika.ee - motorcycles and powersport vehicles this website give a pretty good idea of the market but would just appreciate some confirmation or some advice on where to read up more on buying.
Cheers.

Hi!
"You don't need to be a resident to buy a bike as long as a local acts as your representative" - Yes, that still applies. (Registrering the bike to your name takes 30 min max in DMV if there is no line. Also you could to it online in 5 min and the papers will be delivered to you by mail) Let me know if you find anything interesting from mototehnika.ee and I could go and check it out as long as it is located in Tallinn (most of them are..) I am not to sure that you will find an Estonian who would want to be the representative but never know (you leave the bike in some ...stan and fly back home. He or she has to pay the insurance).

You don't have to pay insurance in Estonia for a bike that is out of the EU. And you can de-register it without bringing it back, although it's a slightly non-standard procedure. Having the original certification and license plate helps.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
