Can't help with campsites, but can thoroughly recommend the Ginger Monkey hostel in Zdiar.
My son and I stayed there for 2 nights in July last year. ( The relevant day from our trip blog if you're interested)
It's quirky, but very friendly and in a stunning location. Here's the view from the front verandah.

A few years ago the best bet for camping on the slovak side of the high tatras seemed to be a place attached to a hotel/restaurant right next to the 'eurocamp' complex (north of it). Eurocamp place itself looked a bit strange and I think more expensive.
This place on google maps. Don't remember the price I'm afraid. I was there 2007.
All the villages at the base of the high tatras seemed to be pricey resorts, didn't seem at all likely that any low-budget accomodation would appear.
Hope you're planning to do some hiking there, it's an amazing place Not sure what the climate would be like that early in the summer though.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
