Can I get transalp parts in Istanbul?

Anyone know what the chances are that a clutch gasket set will be available on hand in Istanbul?

Or would it need to be sent?

Guys more specifically, I took the clutch apart and it was missing a smooth plate and a friction plate. So when I put in the new set of friction plates I was one smooth plate short so now two friction plates are side by side...no idea whether this will last or not.

...so I need to find a set of smooth clutch plates for a 2001 transalp 650 somewhere between Belgrade and Istanbul, any ideas?

In Greece, virtually every third bike is a Honda Transalp, although many seemed to be 583cc (=XL600V) pd06 bikes (rather than 650 models) like mine, I was there last year.

Assuming you're in Istanbul at the moment, contact Mehmet Zeki Avar (via a HUBB pm). He can put you in touch with Taylan and Apo at Kuzgun Motor in the north west of the city.

Transalp is very popular in Turkey, too..All Honda parts available here besides many official and private services..

If you can come at a weekend, can participate bush camping in the forest and together with the kuzgun gang..

If you may be in need of urgent contacts in serbia,bulgaria or greece please pm..
Have good friends there for information or advices..

All the best...

Hi Mehmet,

Daze is currently still in Serbia and on its way but we are meeting in Istanbul hopefully Sunday. I am already in Istanbul in the Antique Hostel you recommended me some time ago. How and where could we buy the the smooth plate (or a set) for the 650V? Do you have an address for me where I could go tomorrow to buy it and would you know a reliable mechanic who could put it in?

Thanks in advance!

Noel

Thanks Chris, as I said we've done a bit of a bodgy fix here in Belgrade with two friction plates not having a smooth plate between, it certainly feels good compared to before but I'm not sure what the ramifications are in the long term. The quickest I can get the parts here is a week. Hopefully I should be ok to Istanbul, it would reassuring to know the parts are available when I arrive.

Tom.

@Tom
wish you all the best for a happy trip.

@Chris

everything ok. with transalp..Photo of the happiness below...

As a general information,thickness of smooth plates must be 1,5 mm. each not 2 so that all set can be fixed in the house regularly..

All the best..

Anyone out there who needs help in Istanbul, get in touch with Mehmet or Taylan at kuzgun motors.

I had a great day with these guys, Taylan is a top shelf bike mechanic and both he and Mehmet are top shelf blokes.

Really, really nice guys, you can't go wrong.

Tom.
