COVID Rumblings: are you in CZ, PL, AT, SK, LT or LV?
My girlfriend texted me today:"Govt talks about rising COVID cases in EU. Advise against travel."
Well our trip is in just over a week. I'm not overly concerned about the health implications (we're on a motorbike, not a plane, we are travelling alone and not planning on seeking crowded places etc), however, I am concerned about borders getting closed whilst we are still on the road: we both have jobs that will be waiting.
So do any of you have first hand or reliable info on the COVID situation and, more importantly, any indication of calls to implement lockdown measures in any of these countries?
- Latvia
- Lithuania
- Poland
- Czech
- Austria
- Slovakia
I'm trying to build a picture of whether or not the trip may fall flat or if I need to amend the route to avoid lockdown regions.
I will be looking at the offical sites for these nations, but rumblings on the ground and on national news broadcasts I can't access may be giving a bit more information and forewarning.
Thanks for any help

From PL
There are rumors that some restrictions will be reintroduced. There are no detailed info about their scope so far. But probably it will be connection with incoming traffic into PL, I wouldn't be surprised if quarantine will be reintroduced. Today we experienced the highest number ever for new cases

If you have time and job restrictions stayin your own country, there will be more restrictions for sure and any border could close tomorrow. no guarantees anywhere.

I called all the relevant embassies today to get an idea. No closed or restricted borders at present. Either from where I am or from neighbouring countries. Usual public space precautions: distancing, masks in shops, disinfectant handwash etc.
It is really hard to say.
Obviously the safest bet is just stay put but that irks me! First proper bike trip since 2011 and it was all looking OK. If we go, it could be all OK. Or we get stranded!

Well for us, it’s decided.
The trip is toast.
The Estonian foreign ministry put AT and CZ on a list of quarantine on return countries and that would interfere with work for obligations my girlfriend has. Otherwise I think we have taken the chance.
So instead an Estonio-centric tour where we can blow our planned fuel budget on a couple of stays in swanky spa hotels whilst biking in the south.
Disappointed but adapting: time to get to know our doorstep.

From Latvia:
There are almost no restrictions that could effect you unless you have not visited a country of a cumulative covid case index of more than 16 cases per 100 000 inhabitants in last two weeks. Current list of countries here https://www.spkc.gov.lv/lv/valstu-sa...stam-eng-3.pdf it changes every friday at arround 5PM, jo can check it here every friday https://www.spkc.gov.lv/lv/valstu-sa...-ar-covid-19-0
If you come from a country that is yellow or red in the list and someone checks you on the border and finds out you've been in a yellow or red zone (in the list), you will be requested to quarantine for two weeks. There is no border control between LT and LV at the moment at all. So if you get in LT from PL, then no problem.
Feel free to contact me for updates or extra info.
