Greek island hopping
I am looking to go on a two month run from the uk to greece next year. I want to take in as many greek islands as I can. Anyone know how easy this is ie do I need to book in advance or just turn up at various ports ? How much do they cost roughly? Is there anywhere I can get information as to how to plan a trip like this. I will be going july/august to summer peak time. Thanks

The only book you probable must have, is from Italy to Igoumenitsa or Patras port if you like to come from there and not from Balkans.
The ferries to the Island is from 10€ to 30€ and you can take it from the port at any time. The most Islands has camp areas and cheap rooms but the season you like to come is "high" season!!
Anything else do you like just ask.

You can also book online quite easily. There is an extensive network of ferries. Enjoy!

Just an idea, I have been living on the islands for quite some time (10y+, 80is and 90is)... In 2010 I took a ride around the mainland and to the islands as well to visit family and friends. I was amazed; the mainland is like Greece 25 – 30 years ago. After one week on the islands I had to go back to the mainland. So, if you are looking to have a great and unforgettable ride and awesome scenery with nice people do the mainland even in August, if you are looking for party do the islands, leave you bike at home and rent a scooter there…

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
