Green Card help needed in Italian
I followed a thread in the insurance section for cheap green card insurance, and emailed an Italian insuror , UCI, and have a response concerning their green card insurance...
it is the cheapest besides Bulgaria I have seen - example is for 3 month policy is $70 USD (that's at 1.3 euro/dollar exchange) per month, and for 6 months is
$57 USD per month.
Any Italians or Italian speakers (I can in Spanish but that's not close enough)
out there in moto land who would be willing to call them up and explain
that I (and others) are looking to apply directly to them for this insurance, and
how can we do it ?
This is their phone: It is UCI insurances in Italy
Centro Informazioni
Gentile utente,
può rivolgersi all'UCI e non al Centro di Informazioni.
Il telefono è 0039 02349681
Thanks in advance
Zig

Zig,
According to the UCI website [Google translation to English]
Ufficio Centrale Italiano/Polizze temporanee di frontiera
that UCI office in Milano only sells directly
".... for the entry and movement of vehicles registered in Italy in foreign countries outside the European Economic Area."
The same UCI website,
Ufficio Centrale Italiano/Carta Verde
says that for a "regular" Green Card (i.e., for vehicles registered outside Italy), you must contact/ buy through a different/ separate Italian insurance agent.
(At least, that is how I interpret the UCI website translation; I may be wrong.
It may still be worth it to have an Italian speaker call the UCI Milano office.
Have you tried calling that office yourself?--I suspect you would find an English-speaking staff person at that UCI Milano office.)
You may have already noticed in the HUBB "cheap green card insurance" thread that this company/ agent in Italy/ Milano
How does the European Green Card Insurance work?
does sell the regular Green Card policy, and can do so in English by web/ email or phone. MotoTouring is more expensive than the price(s) you quote, but
is cheaper than other European sources, and some HUBB folks report good
service from MotoTouring.
good luck--hope I haven't confused the situation for you.

no, no confusion
I know about Mototouring link as well...but without actually asking an insurer if they will do something different, one never knows...and if they said yes, no problem...well then I save 20 dollars a month or more..
So to me it's worthwhile, I hope, to get a response from someone who will just call them and ask.
I also contacted Turkey automobile association ans they have a link in english that states they will provide insurance, not just to Turkish bikes, and the price is the same - about 57USD a month for a 6 month policy.
THE TOURING AND AUTOMOBILE CLUB
of course, I'd like to pay maybe 12 a month in Bulgaria, but haven't worked that one out yet...RTWDoug pays that, yea he lives there but on US registerd moto.
Thanks for the time though, maybe something comes of it.
