Lgks ligurian border road early june - open?

Hello,

Myself and three mates are heading down to the French Italian Alps next week-end (dep 08 June 13) for a weeks riding and hopefully picking up the Ligurische Grenzkammastrase (LGKS)/Ligurian Border Road, any advice on how the snow is clearing in this area would be appreciated? Thanks.

Unfortunately, it's about more than any single factor (altitude) although that one is a significant factor.
It's reputed to be the coldest Spring in Europe in 100 years according to some recent meteo reporting.

There are a couple of links in this thread that might shed some light and they are interesting in any case>
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...n-passes-67181

Such as at the end of this page>
Alpenpässe, Schotterpisten und andere Ziele (nicht nur) für Motorradfahrer - Alpen-Motorrad-Guide
there is some information about that route.

But, the weather hasn't given up just yet>
Slopes open for rare June weekend

Footnote:
I've just read the second link above and one of the posts comes out as this in the translation>

"LGKS in May nypdcollector, 17.04.2013, 23:21
Dear people,
it is not really sooooo hard to read, right?
LGKS is from the 01 Open in July each year.
constantly so what are the questions to Mai?
Forget it easy. First snow still impassable, effectively and secondly prohibited. If the authorities are so nice and the road can at least free for motorcycles, then please respect but also the official closures, so we still have some of that road as long as possible."

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
