Looking to buy motorcycle in Netherlands/Germany/Austria/ or Hungary
I'm looking to buy a bike located anywhere in The Netherlands (preferably Rotterdam), Austria, Hungary, or somewhere in Germany this coming mid December.
I'm registered in the Budapest to Bamako rally for 2011 and am looking for a motorcycle to buy.
I'm looking for something like a klr650, xt350, xt500, xt600, xt660, tenere, trans-alp, dr650, or anything similar. My price range would be about 2500 euros maximum.
If anybody has any info on a bike that I could purchase, or have any recommendations, it would be appreciated

there's a military ktm400 for sale in the "bikes for sale" section of this site, looks pretty nice and ready to go. while the price is higher than what you are looking to spend, the bike is probably tour-ready so you'd save money on outfitting.

Thanks Jens. I have been talking to the race organizers, and they require the frame and engine numbers by October. This means I may need to buy a bike in Europe before seeing it. I don't like buying vehicles without seeing them first.
Is this a bad idea? Is there anybody who could help me in any way? My only other option is to purchase a bike here in Canada and ship it. But there is very very poor selection of used motorcycles here, and shipping will be expensive.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
