Motorcycle or scooter rental in Northern Cyprus
I am currently on holiday in Southern Cyprus heading up to the Northern Turkish controlled area next week and would like to rent a small motorcycle or scooter for a week but am having no luck finding a rental company anywhere in the area, can anyone point me towards one?

Mark, have you contacted the HU Cyprus Community? There's 9 members! Someone might be willing to lend or rent something.

I started my trip in the south of the island then walked across the border to the north which just required showing a passport at both immigration offices, no visa required with a UK passport, my travelling partner in crime has a US passport and it was the same for them. A week later we crossed back with the same procedure. It could be different if you start in the north as the whole situation is very political.
As to scooter rental if you are interested, we could only find one in the north which was 15 Euros a day for a knackered piece of crap, much fun two up!

I don't think there is a problem if you enter the south and then you can ride into the north but I believe you will need to get insurance for the north available at the border.

I visited from the North to South last year. Was no problem for me, but I met some other people who were not allowed to enter.
I think the people at the border like bikers

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
