Recommendations Needed for Trip from Germany to Vence, France

I need your recommendations/suggestions.

I have a conference in Saint Paul de Vence, France from 29 July to 2 August. I’m currently looking for a place to stay in Vence, France for the week of the conference. I’m planning departing Aschaffenburg, Germany on 25 July and riding through the western Alps on the way down. I plan on riding through the western Alps on the return route.

Do you have any suggestions for the following?
- routes down and back
- passes to ride through
- lodging in route
- tires (I have a 2008 R1200GSA. I have Metzeler Tourances on now and in good condition. Are Heidenau K60 Scouts recommended?)
- anything else

Thanks.

Michelin Aschaffenburg Vence route planner

or, go to
viamichelin.com
plug in Aschaffenburg-->Vence
filter by
Motorcycle
sightseeing
avoid tolls
pick middle of 3 displayed route suggestions
supplement with Michelin or other paper maps, or your own instincts en route
adjust to taste
use also for possible accomodations en route
or just pick a hostel/ B&B/ Zimmer Frei/ campground en route
your tires are fine

Thanks for suggesting viamichelin.com. I have been using Google maps and have not used viamichelin.com in a long time. I had forgotten about it.

Same for me: it is weird how we get sucked into using one particular well-known brand and forget about the others.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
