Has anyone ever heard of, or had dealings with a company by the name of Kros in Antalya?

I want to rent a pair of bikes from them and would feel better about sending the deposit if I had a couple of references.

Anything new on KROS motorbike rentals? I've reserved a bike with them in Antalya for September 2014 but I haven't put any money down yet. Any input would be appreciated.

Had a Portuguese friend use them They collected her from and returned her to Antalya airport.The owner even took her out to dinner with him and his family. I saw the bike, it was a late model Yamaha XT660R in very good nick. She knocked them down to 40 Euros a day.

I'll answer my own question.

I'm just back from a month riding in Turkey on a Yamaha XT660R I rented from KROS in Antalya. KROS is a father (Mahmet) and son (Kamil) operation located in the old city section of town. Here's some information about the bike, and a review of their services. I'm not connected to them in any way except as a customer.

Part of their service is to pick you up at the airport, take you to the shop to get your bike and arrange for lodging in the city if you want it. Kamil was there to meet me and everything was arranged and ready.

I brought my own GPS and mount with me and Mahmet wired it into the battery for me. The bike had no luggage, but had a rear rack. I brought my own straps and soon had a dry bag on the back rack and a tank bag up front.
Mahmet showed me where the tool kit was, and provided me with spare front
and rear tubes. He showed me the Yamaha procedure for checking the oil and provided me with a spray can of chain lube.



The bike was an '07 with 70,000 km, a little rough cosmetically but in good riding shape. It started easily every day, and had no running problems other than the slightly snatchy, on-off nature of the fuel injection at low RPMs. From what I read about these bikes that is a known problem. I adapted to it and did fine, although it could be annoying at times.

I consistently got 25 km/L (above 60 mpg) with this bike. It had plenty of power and was reasonably light and comfortable for traveling in Turkey. In general, it was a fun bike to ride.

Tires were in good shape, and all the controls and lights worked. The chain was on its last legs and I had to replace it after a couple of weeks. Kamil took responsibility for this when I called him and he arranged for the chain replacement and reimbursed me in full.

The bike used about a liter of oil over the course of 5-6000 km. Reasonable oil consumption, I think.

I rented the bike for 30 days and the price was about EUR 43 / day.

When I returned to Antalya, everything was quite straight forward. I had broken off the end of the clutch lever in a no-speed tip over in a pile of dirt and rocks in a construction zone so I paid for that; KROS paid me back for the chain; Mahmet removed my GPS wiring and I retrieved the straps from my tank bag and we were done. I walked up the street to the lodging that Kamil had arranged for me.

Next day, I hauled my bag back down the block to KROS and Kamil gave me lift to the airport. All in all, a pleasant experience.


Conclusions: This is a fair and honest business and a good one to deal with. They have been in business for over 25 years. They did everything they said they would and my experience with them was good. I would certainly use them again.
