Shipping from Mongolia or Vladivostok?
Hello everyone. My name is Davide and I'm from Italy and I want to go in Australia from Italy. I will drive with my yamaha xt1200(i hope with other model) and I am very confused for my trip. Because in my first itinerary I think across Russia, pamir, Mongolia and arrive in Vladivostok where I can shiping my moto to Japan. But,other riders have told me that it is no longer possible to ship from Vladivostok, so I will have to do it from Ulan bator in Mongolia. Can you help me with this? Thank's.

There used to be a ro-ro ferry that would take you and your vehicle from Vladivostok via South Korea to Japan. But that ferry stopped in the pandemic, and has not come back (and with the war, probably won't any time soon).
That said, not sure what the path would be from Ulaanbaatar. Airfreight to Japan? Airfreight to Australia? You used to be able to get on a train from UB to China as a passenger, when China's land borders were open, but taking your vehicle with you was not really an option (unless you somehow arranged to have it rail-freighted all the way to Laos).

Across Russia. Really? This year? Do You expect to be welcome as a Western world member?
Think it twice, it's not a good time to provide your money to Russia

Any evidence of Western travellers facing hostility in Russia these days? All the accounts that I have read of people doing so stress the opposite.

Your moral judgement is relevant to one person, and that is not the person asking the question.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
