The Spanish honoured me with a roadside viewpoint area...
I was riding through southern Spain earlier this week, just after leaving Morocco, when much to my surprise I came across a scenic viewpoint named "The Canada Honda".
I am greatly honoured that the Spanish roads department would honour me in such a way - heck, I'll even overlook the grammatical error ('Canada' should have been written 'Canadian', since it was being used as a noun adjunct).
But, how did they know I was coming???

Nice find. Cañada means glen as in the Scottish sense. I see the word Honda quite often and the only translation I can find is sling or slingshot.
Is it hot enough for you? Yesterday we had 36ºC in the mountains, 39ºC in the nearby town and it was 42ºC in Murcia.

Sling Glen. Sounds like a Glasgow housing estate. Doesn't look like one though.

Hi Tim:
Uh, funny you should ask that question.
Earlier this week (Monday to Wednesday), it was too hot for me in Southern Spain, temperatures were as you reported, in the high 30s. So, I decided to head north in search of more temperate weather, and rode up to Leukerbad, Switzerland, a nice little mountain village that I have stayed in before.
The photo below shows what the weather looked like at 2PM this afternoon. It seems there is no middle ground for climate in Europe this week, the choices are either "fry or freeze".

Cañada means glen, that´s right
"honda" equals "profunda", so deep in your strange language
btw, this week has been a good example for crazy weather all around europe
