I've just passed through Albania myself, what are you looking for? Good tarmac roads to get through the country on, but with a nice view or are you looking for tracks to challenge you?

Hi.
UP North you have SH20 szkodra to vermosh (halfway tarmac) and SH20 szkodra to theth (tarmac mostly, last 14km or so, is chalanging) . Lake szkodra resort is AN amazing campground, worth staying. Good restaurant on site. SH 8 to Himare is also spectacular. You can stay by the camp Moskato. Vasil, the owner, is a realy cool dude. Also one good restaurant near by.

There is a beautiful ferry trip from Komani N42 06.528 E19 49.582 to Fierze in the East. Takes about 3,5 hrs. If I remember correctly the ferry leaves at 09.30 in Komani. From Fierze take the old road back to Skoder - not the motorway. Or carry on via Kukes to Kosovo.

Two towns are worthwhile visiting: Berat and Girokaster. Then south of Girokaster is the famous historical site Butrint, just north of the Greek border.

The coastal road from Vlore to Sarande is also worth travelling. Takes you over a high mountain pass with the Adriatic Sea in view.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
