Turkey what type of accommodation
I seem to recall Grant stating at Lumb Farm a few years ago carrying camping equipment is not particularly worthwhile once outside of Europe. Therefore I am seeking the advice of seasoned travellers as to whether I should carry tent plus other camping kit for a trip to Turkey, or grit my teeth and pay for hard accommodation whilst travelling down to the ferry in Italy, as decent accommodation is reasonably cheap in Turkey.
I am on a limited budget, I shall not be visiting Istanbul and have no desire to utilise the shared dormitory type of accommodation. Any comments/advice would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Depends on where to visit in Turkey.
Basicly accomodation prices are not very high in Turkey if you are not looking for luxury.
Can easily find many camping place and wild camping is possible. Carry the camping gear on the bike.

We rode through Turkey last October. Wild camping is fine (take care as usual, and think about where you setup) and taking a tent will be well worth it. Probably about 50% of the nights we wild camped (unless we were in a major town): in pine forests, on scrubby hilltops, overlooking very picturesque lakes, in olive groves. Well worth it

I was down the west coast Galipoli area, a month or so back, we took camping equipment but didn't need it, the most we paid was 20 euro for one night for a twin, as long as you find a fairly biggish village or town, you will find cheap accommodation

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
