UK Motorbike transport

I am looking for a reliable and professional motorbike transport company to move a bike from Exmouth to Beverley in Humberside.

I want it moved carefully and not just banged into the back of a van and bounced about. The carrier would need to be insured to carry my bike in case of damages.

If anyone can recommend someone to me I would appreciate it.

I did some research and came up with this site:

Cheap Courier Services - Shiply - UK's Online Transport Marketplace

It works a bit like an auction. You type in what you want moving, from where to where where and companies make bids on moving it for you.

You can see feedback on the companies a bit like e-bay and decide if you would like to use them.

I have been given a quote for moving a 1996 Honda Magna from Devon to stansted airport for £98 by a company with £10,000 liability insurance and 100% feedback, which I think is pretty good.

Hit & Miss with Shiply

Hi Steve

Shiply is OK and I have moved a few bikes cheaply, but you really can get a surprise when the chosen courier turns up with the bike, as the worst was a 600 Bandit, lent over at 45 degrees and resting on the wing mirror, as it was in the back of a small van not much bigger then a Ford Escort and the next driver was such an old tramp, his jogging pants fell down to his knees when he lent over to undo a £1.00 ratchet strap. Not a nice sight at 8.00 am.

I don't use them anymore and can arrange a proper Bike only courier company through my trade contacts and will use the chaps at Traderbike, who use 15 high top vans mostly for new bike deliveries, but utilise the space left for used bike deliveries. Have a look at www.traderbike.co.uk and let me know, as I can pay and you can send me the £125. PM me for password to enter site.

They will do a proper job.

Cheers

Chris

Try Mototrans

If you google Mototrans, run by a guy called Chas Mortimer, and you'll not go far wrong. He took a bike from me that I'd sold on Ebay, to the buyer in Greece, no problems. When he turned up he had a Brough SS100 on his van, worth about £ 70,000, and he does some transportation for auction houses, such as Bonhams.
If they put their faith in him, I'm sure anyone can!!

I've used Intransit to transport two bikes and they were very good. Turned up exactly when they said they would and were very flexible in picking them up / dropping them off to fit in with my hours of work. A proper steel ramp was used - not a plank of wood & the fittings inside the van were ideal.
In Transit (UK) Ltd. - National & European Light Haulage

But I also found this list of bike shippers should you need others:

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
