Vienna - history monuments
Hey,
I'm visiting Vienna for 4 days at the end of November, and we'll have 2/3 full days to spend in the city. I'm going with my cousins and a friend who is the same sort of age (she's 19, I'm 18).
We're not interested in nights out or anything like that...it's mostly the history! Feel free to suggest anything you think is worth a visit, though. Anyway, we're stopping at a hotel right in the main centre (near a big cathedral, I think?) but since we've never been before we're looking for some advice as to where we should visit. We were wondering if we could emulate tours, like this one https://www.viennasightseeing.at/en/hop-on-hop-off/ on our own, so we dont have to pay the agency their fee for the tour . Anyone did this already (just like saw what the agency offers and then made his own tour with the help of lord Google ).
It would be much appreciated Thank you.

Buy a guide book, it's not going to break the bank is it?

Be sure to spend AT LEAST 1 full day in the military museum of the Austro-Hungarian Empire; I spent 2 days there.

I think this will depend what you're into? As a Classical Musician, I loved visiting Mozart's Vienna house. Seeing where Don Giovani came together was great! Others would have found this dull!
If you don't fancy a guid book (I like the DK visual guides), then an Internet search for Vienna tourism would be good!

Before you go watch the film The Third Man, an excellent piece of work, then treat yourself to a ride on the Riesenrad (the Giant Ferris Wheel). If you enjoy the film to such an extent you wish to tour the sewers, have a look here: https://www.wien.info/en/sightseeing...ides/third-man

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
