Yalioba Turkey

Hi Merhaba Guys,
Hopefully some of the Turkish inmates might be able to tell me if its possible to ride to Yalioba in Canakkale Province. Its not that far if I remember from Gonen but back in 1975 when I worked there helping to build a water pipeline it had no road connection .Any info much appreciated.Planning to travel around that area in september.Overall plan to drive down through France,Germany,Austria,Hungary,Romania,Bulgaria and on to Asia Minor via Istambul.Ferry to Yalova, back through Canakkele,Greece, ferry from Igoumenitsa to Venice Italy,Dolomites,Swiss alps and back through France and ferry to Ireland .

Merhaba Arkadaş,
My birth place is Biga, next to Gönen and Yenice Çan.
Yalıoba village is just in the border line between çanakkale and balıkesir provinces, a small mountain village by a dam lake between Yenice and Gönen.
So you have 2 choices to get there.
1-Edirne-keşan-gelibolu-ferryboat to lapseki-biga-çan-yenice-karasu-yalıoba
Edirne lapseki is 695 km...lapseki-yenice is 115 km.... and yenice yalıoba is 52 km...this road has better conditions.
2-Edirne-çorlu-istanbul-yenikapı ferryboat to Bandırma(Not Yalova now)-gönen-karasu-yalıoba
From which direction you come, you will see the old Yalıoba road sign in Karasu village.
population is about 60.
village head man (Muhtar) Mr.Şaban Güven
phone....:90-286-4950078
cellphone..: 90-536-5806571
sorry no English speaking guy available in the village.

Wish you all the best.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
